Sporting New Wheels

May 7, 2009

So, I’ve been driving an 11 year old van that has been having progressive problems and left me stranded about 25 miles from home over the weekend.  It’s a van that I’ve not been happy driving.  The gas mileage was awful; it was big and bulky and simply had more room than we needed.  When we bought it 5 1/2 years ago, we had only two children and great aspirations for outdoor events with the dog.  After our third child, those aspirations didn’t pan out.  When we had it paid off, it felt so good not having a payment that we just hung onto it despite its age and issues.  Not having a reliable vehicle, however, is a different situation than having a quirky vehicle, so that tipped the scales in favor of buying a newer, smaller vehicle.

Monday we purchased our newer vehicle.  It is a 2005 Pontiac Vibe, which we are told gets 30 mpg city and 36 mpg highway.  It only seats five and has far less cargo space, but it’s zippy and fun and we are excited to have it.

Thanks Mom, we like it too.

Adriana-They did tell us it was made in a plant shared with Toyota in OH, but I wasn’t quite sure if it had an actual Toyota counterpart. Apparently it has some Toyota components, so that’s a good thing! We really like it so far.

That’s awesome! Maybe we can get a test ride in it next month! Aunt K
