Pox at Our Place

May 11, 2008

We’ve got chicken pox. Only child one down so far. Juliana started with the spots today. Some on her head are already blistering, so I think those might have been there yesterday and I didn’t see them. So far she’s not doing too badly, mostly clingy, cranky and wanting to nurse more frequently than normal. I think we’ll have a speedy recovery. Now, I hope the other girls get it quickly and get over it quickly.

I am sooooo jealous. I only need Caleb to get them still, and I either hear of friends with the pox after the fact, or it’s people too far away (like you) to do us any good. I’ll be praying for you, and you can pray that Caleb gets it soon so we can be finished in our home.

Hey, we’ve been waiting for years! We tried to expose Maddy and Isabel a couple of years ago, but it didn’t take. That was a mild case that some friends had. Those girls had both been vaccinated and had only one or two spots, so it was questionable that they really had it anyway. But since then we haven’t had the opportunity to expose them. Wild chicken pox are becoming more rare! Ironically, we were accidentally exposed this time, because I wouldn’t have want to intentionally expose them right now out of the fear of having it around James and Sarah’s wedding.

Maddy has been vaxed for chicken pox, but since data is showing that the life of the vaccine could be as little as five to ten years, I’m hoping that she’ll still get it since it has been 7 1/2 years since that vax.

You guys could come up and visit and get it. 🙂
