The French Press is Back in Action

April 5, 2008

My new carafe arrived today! I’m so excited to get back to drinking better coffee with my French press. Another thing that I found out this week is that we use far less coffee to achieve the same amount and same strength of prepared coffee. The press uses the coffee more efficiently and therefore less coffee. One more thing to love about it.

Just got your message. I would love to get a scoby sooner. How do you want to handle the exchange?

Also wanted to share something about drying clothes inside.
We live in Alaska, and I dry inside as well. The problem with doing this is the long time it takes as well as one more thing. The dampness will build up, and mold will start to grow.
    So here is the solution.
A dehumidifier uses only 30% of the energy of a dryer,( and thats if its run all the time) Get a good one that has a sensor for determing appropriate levels of water in the air. Run it only when you are drying clothes.
The clothes dry quickly, and you will never need to worry about mold growing in your house.

    Hi Paula!

I am interested in an apron, but I think that a scoby for an apron isn’t really a fair trade. I also make soap. Would you be interested in some kind of scoby/soap trade for an apron?

Oh, I forgot to say, that that’s a good tip for drying inside. I’ll have to explore the options!

The soap trade sounds fair and wonderful!
We’ve quit using store bought, since its just too drying, amongst many other things.
