Bring On The Earplugs

March 16, 2008

Look what we added to our household today:

It’s a piano. We got it on our local Freecycle. We wouldn’t have been able to move it without the much appreciated help from Philip (Angelina’s husband).* Here are the guys hard at work:

The girls have been wanting a piano for a long, long time. It hasn’t been at the top of our financial priority list. This was perfect. We only had to pay $21 to rent a trailer because the back of our truck was filled with sod and dirt from my gardening project from earlier in the week.

Isabel told me that this fulfilled one of her greatest wishes in life. The other would be to move into the dome house. Maybe we could find that listed on Freecycle next?

*Thanks for lending out your husband. I know you had work to do! There was also some talk of the guys taking the kids out camping and leaving us ladies behind…a girls’ day in the future maybe?

I love it when people get pianos for free! We got ours for free too.

I heard about all the tents but not about the prospect of kid free mom fun!

Yeah for all of you!!! It won’t be long before you’ll be adding more instruments. We’re up to the piano, fiddle/violin, guitar, auto harp, harmonica, drums (well just the sticks on the furniture), a banjo, and in a few weeks a cardboard box bass (look for that on the internet). I just think you can’t go wrong letting them learn any and all instruments. These have all been money well spent even if we never make it to Broadway!!! We will have to plan a musical something for the next reunion. Oh, and Mom just bought a mandolin, and Sarah’s teaching her how to play!!!

Becca-I’ve gotten some good stuff, it’s a great resource.

April-We don’t have any immediate plans for lessons, but maybe in the future.

Angelina-Oh yes…the tents. What part did you hear? The homeless camp plan?

Cathy-That’s quite an assortment. The girls would love a musical production for the reunion.
