Back with A Vengeance

January 26, 2008

I am well enough to say that I am all good now. Sure I still have a lingering cough, chest congestion and a stuffy nose, but I feel so much better than I did the rest of this week that I am thrilled to be me now and not two days ago. I think that being really sick can do that to you–make you appreciate having a body that doesn’t ache even when you just lie there or a head that doesn’t constantly throb. Lawrence even told me there is a philosopher who posited that illness was nature’s way to make us empathetic and that those who are never sick have less empathy for others’ suffering.

I think that my early January doldrums have been thown out. Maybe my illness was what was needed to kick my derriere into gear. Here’s a list of some things that I really want to accomplish, both in the near future and a little more long term:

  • Make bagels to go with my yogurt cheese
  • Make olive oil crackers to go with my lunch
  • Try the no knead bread recipe that I keep seeing circulating around
  • Sand and paint the door that we purchased for our headboard
  • Take an herbal correspondence course that I have had on my mental to-do-someday list (this was brought painfully to my mind when I was sick); Lawrence isn’t too gung-ho on the idea. I think he sees everything that is undone around here and feels that those things should be attended to first. I see everything that is undone and figure that I won’t ever get it all done, so I might as well enrich our lives with new found herbal knowledge
  • Plan my garden and order the few seeds and new plants that I will need
  • Make more soap. My inventory is getting woefully low.

These are some things I want to do that I look forward to doing. I have another to-do list of things that I don’t look forward to doing, like filing, preparing for taxes, mow the dead layer of leaves off the lawn…you get the picture.

    I’ve got the cough too.

I’m happy to hear you’re feeling so improved!!

What herbal course were you thinking of taking?

    Your list sounds fun.

    Angelina-It’s this course:

My cousin took it and thought it was really good (That’s what I remember, Cathy, correct me if I’m wrong)

Yep, you’re correct. It’s a tough course, but a good one. I would even recommend something for those who aren’t as game into the big course – just choose 5-7 herbs for this year and learn everything you can about them. What they’re good for, how best to use it for each ailment, etc, etc. That’s what we’re going to do this year as the girls aren’t quite ready for the NHL course. We may try with Rebecca next year or possibly just wait until after high school. Good luck!!!
