Geek Week of Words, Day 5

October 21, 2007

This word is a nifty, though not a happy one. It is easy to say and if you live in a large city or near a dairy you can probably incorporate it into your vocabulary quite frequently.

Miasma:

–noun, plural -mas, -ma·ta
1. noxious exhalations from putrescent organic matter; poisonous effluvia or germs polluting the atmosphere.
2. a dangerous, foreboding, or deathlike influence or atmosphere.
