February 1, 2006

One of my friends invited us over for New Year’s Eve but we had already made plans with another set of friends, so I had to decline. I was really bummed when I found out that they had played group games like Pictionary. This is one of my fondest memories of growing up. Playing games at family get-togethers. I clearly remember one game of Taboo played with the Philhower clan and David (my cousin) and I were on the same team and he had pulled a card with “radon” on it. The words he couldn’t use were gas, odorless, and the other three words that one would normally use to describe it. He was at a loss, because how do you describe a gas without saying it is a gas? Less than a minute into it, I saw a word in my head and blurted it out: radon. We were all pretty shocked at my pyschic abilities. I miss not playing those games, so was sad to have missed out on a chance to play at the New Year’s Eve party. Then I started thinking about how our homeschool group used to have a monthly Mom’s Night Out and since we have started the Co-op House, those went by the wayside. I merged the two ideas and started a Mom’s Game Night. Last night was our first one and it was a blast. We played Imaginiff and Scruples. Much fun was had and much chocolate and coffee consumed. I can’t wait til next month!

And after much waiting and bidding and losing I finally got a serger. It should be delivered on Thursday!
